Overview

Registered in 1999 by H. Hansen and Shady Oaks Nursery, 'Touch of Class' is a small sport distinguished by its intense blue-green leaf margins framing a broad yellow leaf center. The cordate leaves measure 5.5 inches (14.0 cm) long by 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) wide, with 11 vein pairs and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces.

In the Garden

This slow-growing, mound-forming cultivar reaches 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green margins remain most intense. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or small sedges complement its compact habit.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Touch of Class' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and take protective measures as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
