Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Toto' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, derived from *H. 'Pin Stripe Sister'* as the pod parent. Its visual distinction lies in the strong contrast between a medium green leaf center and a creamy white, slightly rippled margin approximately 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) wide.

In the Garden

'Toto' forms a mound-like clump reaching 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases and dull surfaces make it suitable for foreground placement in shaded borders or woodland gardens. The green scapes rise to 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height, though scape height may vary.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage for signs of feeding.
