Overview
Registered in 1998 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Gold Edger', 'Timothy' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its dark to medium green leaves with wide, golden yellow margins that exhibit heavy rippling. The leaf surface is notably shiny on top and dull beneath, with nine pairs of veins and a flat base.
In the Garden
Reaching approximately 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) in height and 13 inches (33.0 cm) in diameter, 'Timothy' forms a compact, moderate-growing mound suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or small-scale container plantings. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. Its small stature and tidy habit make it an effective edging plant along pathways.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Timothy' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in garden settings.
