Overview

Registered in 2010 as a sport of an unnamed parent, *Hosta* 'Time Traveler' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its tricolored leaf pattern. The leaves are green with creamy white and medium green streaking, bordered by a greenish yellow, slightly rippled margin approximately 1.2 inches (3.0 cm) wide. A notable feature is the presence of white rings encircling the inner green and outer chartreuse zones, creating a layered variegation effect.

In the Garden

With a mature diameter of 33 inches (83.8 cm) and height of 21 inches (53.3 cm), 'Time Traveler' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump suited to shaded or partially shaded borders. Its small stature and compact habit make it appropriate for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of woodland plantings. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, or other small hostas with contrasting foliage colors.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the leaves, particularly in damp conditions, and deer may browse the foliage in typical hosta-growing zones.
