| Section class | V-6a |
Overview
Registered in 2004, this miniature hosta originated as a seedling of *Hosta* 'Little Wonder' with an unknown pollen parent. Its most distinctive feature is the very narrow white leaf center bordered by medium green margins, creating an inverted coloration pattern compared to the typical green-center, white-margin hosta.
In the Garden
Reaching only 4 inches (10.2 cm) in height and 8 inches (20.3 cm) in diameter, 'Tic Tac' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or trough plantings. Its small size and folded, elliptic leaves with tapered bases make it an excellent candidate for container culture. It pairs well with other miniature perennials such as small ferns or sedums in partial shade.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. As with most hostas, protection from slugs and deer may be necessary in typical hosta-growing zones.
