Registered in 1999, 'Thumbs Up' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Achy Breaky Heart' that forms a small, mound-like clump. Its distinctive foliage consists of medium green leaves with pure white margins, a color pattern inherited from its parent.

In the Garden

Reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter, this small hosta is well suited for the front of a shade border or as an edging plant. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its white margins remain crisp and do not scorch. The moderate growth rate and compact size make it appropriate for container culture in typical hosta-growing zones.

Care Notes

Like most hostas, 'Thumbs Up' benefits from consistent moisture during the growing season and an application of balanced fertilizer in early spring as shoots emerge. Standard slug and deer precautions are recommended, as both pests may damage the foliage.
