Overview
Registered in 2001, *Hosta* 'The Right Stuff' is a giant cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Galaxy'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Incredible Hunk'* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its large, nearly round leaves that are dark green streaked with blue-green, medium green, greenish yellow, pale yellow, yellow, and golden yellow, with slightly rippled gold margins.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms an upright, moderate-growing clump reaching 31 inches (78.7 cm) in height and 37 inches (94.0 cm) in diameter. Its heavy-substance, deeply corrugated leaves with prominent vein pairs (13 to 14) make it a strong textural presence in partial to full shade. Suitable companions include ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials; its giant size precludes container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick leaf substance provides moderate slug and deer resistance, though monitoring is advised in high-pressure areas.
