Overview
Registered in 2005, 'The Perfect Storm' is a small hosta of unknown parentage, with *Hosta* 'Sailor's Warning' as its pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, very shiny green leaves with dark green-streaked, yellow flat margins, combined with red-purple scapes and red petioles.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms an upright clump 9 inches (22.9 cm) tall and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter, with leaves 5 inches (12.7 cm) long and 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide. Its small size and shiny foliage make it suitable for the front of a border, rock gardens, or containers. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or heucheras.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage; monitor and manage as needed.
