Overview

Registered in 2014 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Moonrise', this medium-sized cultivar was originated by M. Zilis and registered by K. Schwarz. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, medium blue-green leaves with moderate corrugation and slightly rippled margins, forming a dense, mound-like habit.

In the Garden

'The Gathering' reaches approximately 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, where its leaf color and corrugation are most pronounced. This cultivar pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials; its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While hostas are generally susceptible to slugs and deer, the moderately corrugated leaves of this cultivar may offer slight resistance to slug damage.
