Overview
Registered in 2004 as a hybrid of *H. 'Spritzer'* (pod parent) and *H. pycnophylla* (pollen parent), this small hosta is distinguished by its blue-green leaves with irregular gold margins and yellow scapes. The lance-shaped leaves, which reach 8 inches in length, display slightly rippled yellow margins, a dull upper surface, and a glaucous bloom underneath; the petioles are notably purple-spotted.
In the Garden
Mature plants form an upright clump 12 inches tall and 32 inches in diameter, with scapes rising 27 to 30 inches. Suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, this cultivar performs well in rock gardens, container plantings, or as a front-of-border accent. Its compact size and variegated foliage pair effectively with ferns, heucheras, or other small hostas.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing; monitor regularly and employ control measures as needed.
