Overview

Registered in 2005, this small sport is visually distinguished by its dark green leaves with greenish-yellow, slightly rippled margins and a subtle grey spotting across the leaf surface. The mound-like plant reaches 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and spreads to 21.5 inches (54.6 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

Hosta 'Tango' performs best in partial to full shade, where its gold-edged foliage remains most vibrant. Its compact size makes it well suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or small woodland perennials complement its low, mounded habit.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in affected gardens.
