Overview

Registered in 2013, *Hosta* 'Tangerine Tango' is a sport of *H.* 'Orange Marmalade' that produces small, mound-like clumps. Its most distinctive feature is the bright gold leaf centers framed by wide, heavily ruffled and corrugated blue-green margins, a color combination that remains stable through the growing season.

In the Garden

This small hosta reaches 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and spreads to 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the gold centers hold their color without scorching. The intensely textured, cupped and twisted leaves make it an effective specimen for the front of a border or as a container plant; companion ferns or small heucheras complement its compact form.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods to maintain leaf turgor, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Typical hosta-growing zones apply; slug and deer damage may occur, though the heavily corrugated leaf surface offers some resistance to minor feeding.
