Overview

Registered in 2013, 'Tamiami Blue' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage, with *Hosta* 'Royal Standard' as its pod parent. It is visually distinguished by its intense blue-green foliage, upright growth habit, and moderately wavy leaf margins, combined with a prominent glaucous bloom on both leaf surfaces.

In the Garden

'Tamiami Blue' forms a substantial clump reaching 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter and 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height, with scapes rising 36 to 42 inches (91.4 to 106.7 cm) above the foliage. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most blue-leaved hostas, where its glaucous bloom is best preserved. Its upright, wavy leaves and fast growth rate make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders, though its medium size limits container use to larger pots.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many blue hostas, the glaucous bloom is easily marred by overhead watering or handling; slug and deer damage may occur in garden settings.
