Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Path Finder' introduced in 2012, 'Take the Green Path' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its nearly round, very shiny dark green leaves with flat margins and cordate bases. The leaf blade measures 7 inches (17.8 cm) in both length and width, with nine pairs of veins, and the plant forms a dense, fast-growing mound.
In the Garden
'Take the Green Path' reaches 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and spreads to 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its glossy, dark green foliage provides strong contrast when paired with gold-leaved or blue-leaved hostas, or with fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. The mound-like habit and fast growth rate allow it to fill space effectively within two to three growing seasons.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, particularly when young leaves are tender in spring.
