Hosta "Purple Rain" review
This is the first of the 'Uncle Albert' hybrids to be released, from a cross with 'Halcyon' made in 1998. It's a medium size plant with blue leaves, ovate with sharply pointed tips, slightly cupped, with rippled edges. Leaf petioles are purple spotted. Flowers are pale lavender. At the 2002 First Look, a competition for new hosta introductions, American Hosta Society judges named 'Purple Rain' the best blue seedling and runner-up for best seedling in the show. Slow grower.
