Lunar Orbit

Hosta "Lunar Orbit" review

15" tall. Part Sun to Light Shade. Bright yellow leaves with green edge. Pale lavender flowers in July. Chartreuse gold with a very wide dark green border - wider as season progresses. Some streaking. Rugose, corrugated. Slug resistant. Near white flowers. This spectacular sport of Hosta 'August Moon' is finally becoming more available. The heavily textured round corrugated chartreuse golden leaves develop a very wide dark green border... wider as the season progresses.... eventually making a spectacular 30" wide clump. In late spring, the clump is topped with sturdy 2' stalks of light lavender bells. Hosta 'Lunar Orbit' is similar, but different from Hosta 'September Sun'. Oh, but it hurt to dig the display plant-very difficult temporarily losing this beauty from the garden. Bright golden leaves are edged in a very dark green. Excellent substance. White flowers. Limited supply. A sport of 'August Moon' with round, heavily corrugated gold leaves with a wide, dark green margin.  Pale lavender flowers. Another wonderful sport from Hosta 'August Moon'--leaves have good substance and are roundish with green-gold centers and a wide dark green margin. Light lavender flowers midseason.
