Hosta "Loleta Powell" review
Multi-variegated creamy white streaked med.green. Here's a plant you may not even have heard about: It's called 'Loleta Powell' and was named for the unique nurserywoman from North Carolina who has such a wonderful way with catalog descriptions. The plant was named for her by Paul Aden, when she was there on a visit and mentioned how much she liked it. It never really got around much, and to date we believe no one other than Loleta has offered it for sale. Out of Paul Aden's early hybridizing efforts, 'Loleta Powell' dates to the time of such classics as 'Wide Brim', 'Knockout', and 'Brim Cup', and is a rare chance for hybridizers to work with one of the tools of that era. Highly fertile with good seed set, it gives strong-growing variegated seedlings. It's also a real catch for the collector who has "everything"!
