Brenda's Beauty

Hosta "Brenda's Beauty" review

15" tall. Part Sun to Light Shade. This is the first hosta we introduced. Lemon yellow leaves with variable green edge. It emerges brilliantly colored in the Spring. Toward the end of the season, it develops an interesting vein pattern and a multihued splashed variegation. Light lavender blooms in July. Needs shade. Lemon yellow with a variable green edge. Dull texture. Leaves emerge brilliantly colored in spring and develop a splashed variegation pattern toward the end of the season. Lavender flowers. This plant has garnered a lot of attention in our collection, so we thought it was time to share. From Bob Keller, comes this unusual sport of Hosta 'Gold Standard'. The heavily veined dark green leaves are slightly twisted, with a very unusual center variegation pattern of butterscotch. In late summer, plants in deep shade tend to loose the center pattern, although it returns in spring. In early summer, the 2' wide clumps are topped with medium lavender flowers on 2' stalks. This Hosta 'Gold Standard' mutation is medium in size and has light yellow leaves with a variable medium green border that remains fairly thin; light lavender flowers midseason. A sport of 'Gold Standard', the leaves have a creamy white center, turning light green in the summer, with a medium green margin.  The leaves are slightly folded and twisted.  Lavender flowers.
