1 Large fruit Plum-Leaf Crabapple Apple Tree Seedling Edible Live Plant
This hardy crab is well know for its nice sized and edible crab apples. Its leaves are shaped differently than most apples, with leaves that resemble plum leaves. This tree is from Asia with its natural range extending from China to Lapland. Its origin is a bit of mystery whether it is a purely wild tree or an ancient variety bred in ancient Asia, probably in China. DNA say it may be ancient cross of domestic apple and wild Siberian crab apple.
That makes sense since fruits on this tree are between the size of Siberian crabs and modern apples. The modern day version of this crab apple has large edible crabs that are usually red with green or yellow added in. In size it is similar to dolgo crab, though there is variability, in size, shape and color. This crab apple was widely cultivated in China before the introduction of large European and western Asia apple varieties.
